I was chosen twice.
Both families wound up imploding.

The first time, the family didn’t implode until the kid was a lot older, and I couldn’t get anybody to listen to my concerns. I was basically laughed at to my face. Also the kid had some serious developmental issues. It was a big mess.

The second time the parents wound up messily divorcing, the kids went with mom, dad went on a spiritual quest to find himself and try half a dozen new and exciting religions and I haven’t seen the kid in over a decade.

Very active. We still are. The family is a large faithful Catholic family. That makes a godparents job easy. We do baptism parties on the anniversary of baptisms etc.

I pray for my godchildren every day.

When I can visit, I have done so for those far away. For the local folks, I attend every event that I possibly can.

A few times yeah. I’m godparent to two of my younger siblings and I wasn’t really needed much in that regard. I’m also godparent to a friend’s child. He lives in another country so we don’t see him often but they’re a good, Catholic family and we just keep him supplied with nice presents. lol

I’m also godfather to my niece, her family is Catholic-Evangelical so I’m a bit more needed in that regard.
