Were you ever a member of SSPX but decided to accept Vatican II and leave SSPX?

I’m looking for answers exactly from former members of SSPX.

And I would like to know, if you did leave, why?

What made you change your mind and accept Vatican II and the validity of Popes who came after Vatican II?

I don’t want a lot of arguing here. If that begins to happen, I will immediately ask the moderators to close the thread.

Thanks.

The only members of the priestly society SSPX are priests. There are only a few hundred of them so it is rather unlikely that any of them are on CAF.

As (name removed by moderator) has aptly explained, the SSPX does accept that VII was validly convened and they pray for the current pope at every Mass.

The only folks I’ve come across (online) who have stopped attending SSPX chapels went over to the resistance to which (name removed by moderator) referred. But then my sphere is fairly small I imagine.

Oh. Ok, thanks for clarifying that ladies and Paul. I guess I should read up more on the basics of SSPX before asking questions.

Is it true, just off the top of my head, that the Vatican said if a Catholic attends a SSPX liturgy, he would be excommunicated?

(I really must read up better, I suppose.)

I’m getting Sedvecantists and SSPX supporters a bit mixed together, I see.

I think you might be referring to statements made by Bishop Semeraro of Albano, Italy, and Bishop Sarlinga of Zárate-Campana, Argentina, both of whom said Catholics receiving sacraments from the SSPX incur automatic excommunication. As far as I know, these statements are in stark contrast to prior statements made by the Church.

(name removed by moderator)? Any insight on this one?

It’s all a bit complicated to me. I think I’m not the only Catholic to have a poor understanding of this whole business.

Truly? Let me know, please, when others will start disagreeing with your proclamations just so I can keep on top of things. 🙂

Well, was he instructed by the Pope not to use the EF? How is it that he could use the EF while no one else did? That seems a little suspicious to me. 🙂

Hmmmm…

I’m not sure the Pope or other Catholics here would share this conclusion.

You should go into Law, but not cannon law. It doesn’t pay worth a hoot.
