Just chiming in to say I hope someone has a recommendation on a really good biography of Martin Luther. I’d love to understand him better than I do.I’m looking for a biography on someone Involved in either the reformation or Counter reformation. Any suggestions?

Pick up a copy of ‘Characters of the Reformation’ by Hilaire Belloc. It deals more with the English Reformation so it doesn’t discuss Luther, Calvin, etc, but it does have very short sketches of Henry VIII, St Thomas More, and other major players.

Metaxas and Bainton have pretty good biographies on Luther.
