Hi,
There are some priests who belong to religious orders where the can teach any number of subjects in high schools and colleges. But the main work of the priest involves ministering as a priest. His first and most sacred ministry is celebrating Mass and then the administering of the sacraments. In these activities he ministers in the person of Christ. At Mass, he doesn’t say “This is Christ’s body,” He says “this is my body.” In the confessional, he doesn’t say, “Christ absolves you.” He says, “I absolve you.” There is no activity performed by human beings that can come close to such sublime work. There simply is nothing like it!
I am a priest–and there is nothing else on the on earth that I would rather do than minister as one.
