Hello,

I recently received an email from a friend who’s daughters work at a fast food chain, particularly Chik fil A and there was a young menonite lady who worked there and would say to her customers “Jesus love you” . Well the manager got one complaint so she took the young lady aside and told her she was not allowed to say that anymore and the young lady said that is just who I am and would not be able to comply. She ended up quitting. So my question is whether or not you think this should be allowed under free speech or the company has a right to say you can’t do this because it might offend costumers. I personally think she shouldn’t be allowed even though I would love to hear Jesus loves me at a fast food restaurant but I wouldn’t want someone saying to me Hare krishna though!!

Thank you
Amy

Hi Amy,

Good point; I wouldn’t want to be greeted in that way either. Chic fil A is a very Christian organization. They are not even open on Sundays. However, as public as they are about their religion, they do not impose it on anyone; nor should they. Our Lord does not force Himself on us. Also, they have every right to forbid their employees from behavior they deem to be inappropriate.
