What about when Confession is not available?

I committed the mortal sin [edited] on Friday night, after going to Confession earlier that day. On Saturday I went to Confession but discovered that it had been cancelled. No other church was available for Confession.

I have made an honest Act of Contrition and I desired and sought Confession but it was not available. Can I receive the Eucharist on Easter with the intention to go to Confession as soon as possible?

If you committed a mortal sin, no, you cannot receive Holy Communion until you have confessed. Your Act of Contrition needs to be more than honest, it must be Perfect to effect forgiveness for your sin outside of sacramental Confession, but still you may not receive Holy Communion unless it is of urgent necessity, until you confess.

Most welcome! Furthermore, there are a variety of ways to be forgiven of venial sin, one of which is attending Mass, and you may receive Holy Communion in that same Mass.
