They are the study of the Christian faith

They are needed to defend the Church against heresies and to evangelize the world.

Apologetics:
“Reasoned arguments or writings in justification of something, typically a theory or religious doctrine”

Apologetics are used to defend the Christian faith.

It is sometime referenced as a defense, but it is more than that. Not only does it arm you, and help you actively defend your faith, but in the conversion process it is very important.

The Catholic Church has never separated reason and faith. Apologetics help to reason people to faith. Of course faith is a gift from God, but using apologetics you can help people to a belief in God.

Reasons to believe. Apologetics is basically the same as the street sweeper:D It clears away all the junk on the street that might be blocking us from moving forward towards our destination. 👍

Apologetics is essentially the enterprise of trying to win men and women for Christ by obeying Scripture’s own command to “be ready to give reason the hope that is within you” (1 Peter 3:15).

What are apologetics & why are they needed?
Apologetics are needed to defend, protect, present, express, articulate, and clarify Truth, from countless, unrelenting efforts to obscure it, misappropriate it, confuse it, silence it, cover it, and smother it.

The purpose for engaging in its practice, is to preserve the light from darkness, that those of sincere good will, may be lead to the light, out of the darkness.
