What are some things you do daily to be a better person?

I try to be patient with others. I do a lot of spiritual reading and remind myself of areas I need to improve in. Not in a beating myself up kind of way, just in a growing closer to God way.

I’ve tried to avoid being rude to people who I notice are rude to others just for well meaning questions. It’s frustrating to think someone is turned away from getting some good advice that can help their lives because someone knowledgeable in our faith and very comfortable with their friends online who will back them up decides to rudely respond with enough wit to gain a few hearts to boost their ego. It’s easier to do than be seen as the kind, patient person, especially when you don’t feel kind and patient.
Ok, aside from that, all I can think of is wanting to read more scripture for Lent and going to Sunday Mass even at 8 months pregnant and trying to stand when I want to sit.

Smile if you can to help others smile

And just try to quickly let go of mean things do to you

That’s what I try to do
Just kinda have in the back your mind of that a good person would do
And try to ignore the term “no good deed goes unpunished”

Don’t worry too much what others are doing…(that’s what I do every day as a spiritual exercise or rather try to do not an admonishment, although… ) if you do worry about others a lot you can fall into the trap of measuring yourself against others which is never good believe me. Either you see they are good and you are bad and feel discouraged which is not good or you see some bad in them and feel prideful …also not good. This is a very simple explanation. It can get a lot more complex. You can also fall into the trap of judging others and of trying to behave in an outwardly perfect way rather than an inwardly perfect way.

Pray and ask God to direct me. And yes go to mass daily and regular Adoration. Allow God to be first in my life. Daily conscience examen just to try keep on track of things and apologise to God for the messes I make and ask his help in putting me back together again.

Someone recommended to me a nightly examination of conscience. Something simple like: How have I kept God’s commandments? Where have I fallen short? How have I loved my neighbor? How can I show more love of neighbor?

It was a very good suggestion. I find that the more I am intentional about reflecting on how I’m living and trying to do better, the easier it becomes.

Of course, prayer and love of God plays no small part in this.

Then I’d say you are well on your way.

If you ever fall short, try not to be too hard on yourself.

Conversion is a slow and continual process. Think about where you were a year ago versus where you are now and thank God for how far he has brought you.

I try to go to mass daily…but realistically get to daily mass 3x per week and 1x either at Saturday Vigil or Sunday Mass.

I am trying to go to confession at least 1x per month

I am doing a novena

I pray the divine mercy chaplet daily

I pray privately before bed

I study scriptures

I try to be a kind person to everyone

Pray. Ask for God’s help and forgiveness. Read my Bible. Try to identify those areas in my life where I struggle and ask God for help in those areas. If there is a habitual sin that I am working on, I try to identify ways to change my thinking with regard to that sin, or perhaps change my practice so that when I am tempted, I give myself an alternative to focus my energies on. Try to identify ways I can serve my wife, kids, and Church.
