I’m Mexican American (chicano)
And for our family it was Christmas and Easter.
For Christmas we have posadas, and awesome food, Llike tamales, bunuelos, champorau
tukey, ham, ronpope. See how we cross bounddaries mixing Mexican and American food all mixed. It’s like one giant smogasboard. For Easter, pretty much the same except no tamales, but have something called, wow mind fart can’t remember the name but it’s like bread pudding. sometimes we have posole.
At any rate, may God bless you all and have a fun and safe holidays.

here in the Valley, predominently Hispanic of Mexican origin, including those who have been in since before Texas indepence, to recent arrivals, not necessarily in order of importance, are Semana Santa – Holy Week and Easter; Christmas; and the feast of O.L. of Guadalupe. The day that brings the most people to church without question is Ash Wednesday.
Surprising to me is that customs I was taught are inherent in Hispanic spirituality during my training are unfamiliar to many families and have been reintroduced by secular sources: the king cake for Tres Reyes (Epiphany), day of the Dead, Las Posadas, are examples.
the Christmas custom that seems universal is tamales. bring on the pepcid so I can get through this season.
