I was wondering, are there any requirements for the candlesticks and the cross/crucifix that you put on the altar?
Do they have to be silver or gold or can they be made of brass for example?
How about the altar cloth for the Novus Ordo ?

Insofar as the candlesticks are concerned, a solid material that is not breakable is preferred. Things happen, so having crystal or glass candlesticks just aren’t practical. Wood and brass can be used as well as silver or gold. Most of the candlesticks that are affordable and are made of metal are generally plated with silver or gold. I only say this as my parish is doing some long-needed renovations and much research has been done. The crucifix that sits on our current altar is wooden with a metal corpus and it sits at a slight angle. I’m not sure what Father is going to have when our new (larger/longer/appropriate) altar is installed.

Wood can be suitable when beautifully carved and crafted.
