What are the rules concerning weddings during Lent?

The best dates for us to marry happen to fall during Lent. Father says we can have a wedding but no flowers, etc. I did not have a chance to ask him if we can have a dinner and dance afterwards. Is that ok or allowed? We want to marry on a Saturday.
