What are these different "rites" that people associate themselves with?

Hello everyone

I’ve notice that alot of posters here have different rites in their religious status, such as Latin Rite, Byzantine Rite (I think thats one), and a host of others. Could someone please explain these to me? Are these like different denominations within the church?
