What’s your favourite spiritual and non-spiritual book?

For me it’s

Spiritual: Introduction to the Devout Life by St Francis De Sales

Non-spiritual: Warsaw 1920 (can’t remember author’s name, but book was about how the Polish army saved Europe from communism!)

I’d say any good translation (right now I’m a big fan of the RSVCE) of the Bible is my favorite spiritual book (though Divine Mercy in my Soul is up there, too). Non spiritual might be We Die Alone by Jan Baalsrud. It’s written by the only survivor of an ambush on a Norwegian commando ship by Nazis. He tells about his escape and return home.

Esop’s Fables
Meant for children, but has a moral and ethical foundation good at any age as well as entertaining. All of the Greek legends-The Bible and others.

Books that influenced my life the most, besides the bible have been

The little flowers of St Francis
Imitation of Christ - Thomas a Kempis
The name of God is mercy - Pope Francis
Becoming Human - Jean Vanier
The great divorce - C.S Lewis

Aside from the holy bible, the imitation of Christ is quite possibly my favorite at present I am currently reading it again, I did find Father Larry Richards Be a man a great book and very challenging it is making me think alot about how I have lived my life until now and showing me where I am really lacking it has been very humbling. In terms of non spiritial I do enjoy reading alot of Templar type fiction stuff kinda da vinci code esq read quite a few books along those lines dunno why but they always seem to appeal to me a bit. Not read a great deal of non spiritual books of late tbh. I used to be quite into Iain Rankin’s rebus series think there is only 1 or two o haven’t read.

Non- spiritual, Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien and
Sherlock Holmes series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle 🙂

The autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux! Life-changing book.
