The Diary of St. Faustina is quite thrilling, although not in a way the OP means.

Do spy thrillers count? Two by John le Carré, The Spy Who Came In From The Cold and The Little Drummer Girl.

Daniel Silva’s books with the character Gabriel Allon are my favorites. I think he publishes one every two years and I look forward to each…new one this last month. You don’t have to start with the first one, but you’ll probably enjoy them more if you do.

Dean Koontz has written some real page turners.

Recently I enjoyed “Gone Girl”

I like true crime. All the more thrilling.
For example, Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood is excellent.

“The Devil in the White City” is a good true crime book!

I love the old James Bond novels by Ian Fleming. I’ve read them all many times, except for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. I’ve only read it twice–it’s just too sad. But it’s a thriller!–that ski run down the mountain to escape from Blofeld is unforgettable!

Like Stephen King, some of Dean’s are good and others are disappointing.
Stephen King’s earlier works were really good, then they got silly. For me, when an author has to crank out a new novel every
18 months, their work and creativity
suffers.

Which work of Stephen King would you consider to be the best?

The Gunslinger and it’s not close. I hate to say it, but King was at his best when he was coked out of his mind.

I just read The Outsider by King. It was a cool detective horror hybrid. The Bill Hodges trilogy should be read first, starting with Mr. Mercedes. (You will understand why later). But the best detective series without paranormal overtones is possibly the Bosch series by Michael Connelly.

Da Vinci Code - by Dan Brown.
I NEVER thought that a book - could have me turning pages - like that one did.
It was a fun thriller.
The other book - way back when - " Amtyville Horror " -

I admit - I do read Exorcism books - but stay away from dark thrillers.

I don’t read thrillers but do indulge in crime fiction. My favorite author in this genre is James Ellroy. Not sure if I have a favorite but to take a stab at it “L.A. Confidential.”

The Hound of the Baskervilles Arthur Conan Doyle’s most popular Sherlock Holmes novel

I would recommend starting Sherlock Holmes with A Study in Scarlet.

One funny thing about the “Hound of the Baskervilles” is that Holmes disappears for a good portion of the book, leaving Watson in charge. Of course, it makes sense when you find out what Holmes was up to.
