I have a situation people… hope you can enlight me a little bit. I’ve been working against one sin that keeps me falling all the time, its been 2 years…made a HUGE progress with God’s Grace and frequent reconciliation, now…

I have come to understand better morality and God’s plan for us, and how we can hurt others and also offend God directly. I guess that most have cross trough this. Before I was innocent at some degree about my sin, but now I Know its wrong… and even tough sometimes I just find myself falling into it.

Now it has come that I in full conscience, sinned against God, and that really scared me. I Never had felt that evil inside me. Of course thanks to his Mercy I know I’ve been forgiven but I still struggle with that idea!

I don’t know if ignorance is a bless and the truth just makes it almost impossible to follow.

Maybe I’m putting to much attention into it because I want to overcome it, however a simple sin to many may become a mortal to one that is fully aware of it and still does it!
            • This puts it somehow How I feel. ------

Rom 7:9-12 And I lived some time without the law. But when the commandment came, sin revived, (10) And I died. And the commandment that was ordained to life, the same was found to be unto death to me. (11) For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, seduced me: and by it killed me. (12) Wherefore the law indeed is holy: and the commandment holy and just and good.

HELP!

Well, the Catholic view is that our first parents chose to disobey God, and as a result we are aware of good and evil, and are born with original sin, and the propensity of the flesh to war against the spirit. Your question involves more the question of free will, and why we have it, no?

Well, If when I was not aware of my actions was justified, now that I know I’m not, then Why would I pass on that burden to other people?

Also, I’m afraid that if I dig further into morality, I would find myself committing all different kinds of mortal sins, and more chances of dying in mortal sin.

Maybe someone knowledgable will answer your very good question, but I would say that God, Who is Truth itself, wants us to know Him and come to Him. Yes, we can remain invincibly ignorant and become justified, but God wants us to know the Truth, and to fight the good fight, and attain a closer union with Him in heaven.

Is getting to heaven a burden? Never more than we can bear, and it is more than worth the effort.

Mortal Sins have not changed. They are grave sins against God.

CCC - "1783 Conscience must be informed and moral judgment enlightened.
A well-formed conscience is upright and truthful.
It formulates its judgments according to reason, in conformity with the true good willed by the wisdom of the Creator.
The education of conscience is indispensable for human beings who are subjected to negative influences and tempted by sin to prefer their own judgment and to reject authoritative teachings. "

CCC - " 1784 The education of the conscience is a lifelong task.
From the earliest years, it awakens the child to the knowledge and practice of the interior law recognized by conscience.
Prudent education teaches virtue; it prevents or cures fear, selfishness and pride, resentment arising from guilt, and feelings of complacency, born of human weakness and faults. The education of the conscience guarantees freedom and engenders peace of heart. "

CCC - " 1798 A well-formed conscience is upright and truthful. It formulates its judgments according to reason, in conformity with the true good willed by the wisdom of the Creator. Everyone must avail himself of the means to form his conscience. "

CCC - " 1791 This ignorance can often be imputed to personal responsibility.
This is the case when a man "takes little trouble to find out what is true and good, or when conscience is by degrees almost blinded through the habit of committing sin.
In such cases, the person is culpable for the evil he commits
."

In addition to a Catholic Bible, the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition” helps each of us to form a good conscience.
The “CCC 2nd Ed” has been published in many languages for the entire world. In the USA it has a dark green cover, and was first published in March, 2000.

After reading the CCC, spend several hours preparing for a good Confession.
God forgives all sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, but we must do our best not to commit the same sins again, and when appropriate to make amends to those we have wronged.

Thank you , really, I was under the impression that I was going downhill instead of upwards.
