This is one for those who have read biographies of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta way more in-depth than I have.

OK so Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu was an Albanian. From what I can tell en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_translations_into_Albanian the scriptures weren’t very available in Albanian until fairly recently; complicated by there being multiple Albanian languages, most translations were Protestant, etc.

It’s obvious from listening reading to anything she said for 5 minutes that she was immersed in the Scriptures. I’m just curious, what bible did she read? Was it an Albanian New Testament plus whatever was available in her Albanian missal? She was also fluent in Bengali, Hindi, Serbian & English, so perhaps read the bible in one or any of those languages?

We can make educated guesses, but does anyone actually know?

Even in our own county(USA) the Bible was not always widely available for the lay people. However, scripture was read in all the masses and you did get the foundation of the Bible. So, I guess Mother Theresa read her own Bible. It could have been a Latin Bible. Don’t know.
