What Bible reading plan do you recommend?

Hi guys

I’m looking for a easy to follow Bible reading plan. I would really like to start reading the Bible daily again. But I can’t seem to find a daily reading plan thats less then 15 minutes a day.
What Bible reading play do you use?

Checkout the St. Paul Center For Biblical Theology. Dr. Scott Hahn is President and founder. There are great Bible studies and they all are free. Just click on the Studies tab then Online Bible Studies. Start of with Covenant Love: Introducing the Biblical Worldview. Hope this helps you out.

I get daily readings from:

Free Bible Email [markg@freebibleemail.com]

You get a New Testament reading, a Psalm or Proverb, and an Old Testament reading each day. It takes about 15 minutes to read. For example today I read a 1Timothy 1 and 2, Psalm 146 and 2 chapters from Ezekiel 31 & 32.

I started reading the Bible when on my bicycle tours. Every journal entry was headed by a Bible verse.

Back in 2007 I decided to bicycle everyday to work, for shopping, etc. and to keep a journal of the rides. So each day I have read one chapter and pick a verse that strikes me as unique because of how it is written or the truth is contains.

The Bible reading plan I follow is simply the daily readings from Mass. They’re easy enough to find online and if you do them daily in one three year period you’ll have read a major portion of the Holy Scriptures. Also, the readings are usually put together in a way that the Old Testament and New Testament readings help one to understand the other, either they are related thematically or the New Testament alludes to the Old Testament reading. You can’t go wrong with the daily readings.

My reading plan is reading a Psalm or Proverb each day on top of 5 chapters of another book in the Bible. After the 150th psalm I doubled up on reading from another book by reading 10 chapters of a bigger book for the next 2 days. I also did the same after the 31st Proverb. All in all you end up reading the the Bible twice in just under 15 months. The Psalms will actually be read twice all the way through and half way through on the third time during this plan I concacted
 
the best plan I know of if your time is limited is a devotional with the daily readings and a short reflection/study. Word Among Us is my favorite for this purpose
 
I’m just getting back into the Catholic Church and reading the Bible for the first time. I found the following Reading Plan online, which gives a systematic way to read the entire Bible PLUS the Catholic Catechism in one year. I like the way its structured and it’s easy to check off as you complete the readings.

I recommend doing this:
  1. Read the historical books in order to get a good overview of the entire story in chronological order.
Genesis
Exodus
Numbers
Joshua
Judges
1 & 2 Samual
1 & 2 Kings
Ezra
Nehemiah
1 Maccabees
Luke
Acts
  1. Next Read all of the Letters in the New Testament to see how the early Church began and how the doctrines the Church has today developed.
  2. Next read Matthew, Mark, John - To reinforce the story of Christ
  3. Read Revelation to start on prophecy - There are a lot of Prophecy books.
  4. Start the OT prophets in order like this and see how the relate to what you saw fullfilled in the New Testament:
Amos
Hosea
Micah
Isaiah
  1. Break from Prophets here and read these storys that are very much like novels to a degree but all of course have relevant themes that impact our lives.
Job
Ruth
Tobit
Ester
Judith
  1. Read Psalms - Probably the most beautiful book ever written.
  2. Read the wisdom books - The name says it all wisdom in abundance.
Proverbs
Song of Soloman - This one is unique. It fits in here but it is very different.
Ecclesiates
Wisdom
Sirach
  1. Finish Prophets in order - Now that you have made it through the rest of the Bible the prophecies and events in these books will be more familiar to you and you will see a trend.

I bought a small missal that has the Sunday readings…I carry it around with me and I read the same passages over and over for the upcoming Sunday mass. By the time I get to mass on Saturday (vigil for Sunday), I usually have a pretty good understanding of all the scripture read. And if I don’t understand, I can write my questions down and ask the priest or another elder about them if they are not answered in the homily. And I remember it better.
That way when my husband calls (from Afghanistan) and asks me what we talked about in mass that day…I can tell him.

I just found this topic and it is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I like the checklist thing. And the lessons on Mr. Hahn’s website is awesome! I think using these two things in conjunction will be perfect!
 
If you read one chapter a day, you can read the entire bible, OT and NT, in about 3 1/4 years. A very simple plan that I like is to read one chapter from the Old Testament and one chapter from the New Testament every day. You’ll read through the entire New Testament each year and the Old Testament in a little over three years. Even when you hit a tough patch in the Old Testament (did I hear anyone say Leviticus?), you will have a chapter from the New Testament to carry you through. Should take about 15 minutes or less daily.
