What Catholic books have you read recently that really moved you, helped deepen your faith, or taught you something you weren’t expecting?
I’ve recently read several about Mother Theresa, and am currently reading St John of the Cross- The Ascent of Mt Carmel and Dark Night of the Soul.
Any suggestions and why?
And what about any recent Catholic seminars? Not looking for any particular subjects, but one of those ‘you have got to go this seminar/conference’ type of thing

I recently made the St. Louis de Montfort consecration to Our Blessed Mother, and along with it I also used the book “33 Days to Morning Glory” by Father Michael E. Gaitley, MIC It really enhanced my daily prayers and readings for the consecration.

Besides the (name removed by moderator)ut on Our Lady from St. Louis, this book also contains insights from St. Maximilian Kolbe, Mother Teresa, and John Paul II. Very inspiring and insightful.

I’m reading “Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic” by Matthew Kelly. Great book!

Consoling the Heart of Jesus
A Do-It-Yourself Retreat

By: Michael E. Gaitley, MIC

Inspired by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius

I highly recommend this book, I have grown closer to the The Lord and His Divine Mercy.

I’d recommend The Story of a Soul, by St. Therese Lisieux. Its beautiful, inspiring, and makes you feel like you know her. Its the reason I have a devotion to her.

Theres also a book called I Believe in Love, by Fr. Jean d’Elbee, that is a personal retreat based on St. Therese Lisieux’s teaching.

And Fatima for Today by Fr. Andrew Apostoli. Its very informative and inspiring at the same time, and definitely has increased my devotion to Mary.

All the above sound like great books–I’ve read a few.

I’d also recommend *The Mass and Cavalry *by Abp. Fulton Sheen and *The Spirit of Penance *by Dom Hubert.

I have just finished Surprised by Truth ed. by Patrick Madrid. It is very useful to reflect upon the many paths to the Church.

I second this recommendation of 33 Days to Morning Glory, Father Michael Gaitley, MIC. The do-it-yourself is perfect for busy people.

Twenty-eight people, including me, completed the retreat, consecrated ourselves to Our Blessed Mother on August 15, Feast of the Assumption.

I enjoyed this too.

While not being a Catholic or even Christian book, Walking the Bible by Bruce Feiler is wonderful. He has a number of other books I have enjoyed as well, but this book is great.
