I’m frustrated! I’ve tried getting involved in the parish by participating in the liturgy and welcoming committee s at my parish but I dropped out because I felt I was doing more harm than good but my wife really likes our parish. I’ve talked with our priest and he was unhelpful. He had nothing to suggest. Does anyone have “constructive ways” to deal with the subtle moderism in my parish?

Give generously to the parish.
Pray hard every day.
Attend whenever possible.
Volunteer to be a reader, or an usher, and carry this duty without grumbling or expressing awish to change anything.
Support your Priest and his decisions.

You didn’t explain what went wrong, but the basic point to remember is that, for anyone involved in parish work, the pastor is the boss. You do the job he assigns to you and you do it the way he wants it done. If you disagree with his “subtle moderism” (whatever that may be), just forget your objections and get on with the job.

Try participating in fundraising events, they’re usually a lot of fun. Join the Knights of Columbus. Go to adoration when you can.

Since you know the difference between the two, find out if you can teach: the orthodox position, defending it against modernism.
