I have been a member of my parish since 1964. We have had many priest come and go. However, on Friday, March 13th our priest in residence was removed from our parish and stripped of all priestly duties. He had a 95% approval rating from the parishioners. Two weeks prior to his removal, a petition with over 800 signatures was presented to the Archbishop, requesting he be reassigned to our parish. The pastor, who we see only once a year, and the priest who is the subject of my question requested that he be retained. The pastoral administrator requested he not be retained, claiming there was a “personality differences” and she was not willing to work with him. The Archbishop has assured us, there are no sexual abuse alligations against him. Our parish has been deeply wonded over this. Many walked out of all the Masses this weekend when the Archbishop’s letter was read, explaining his decision to remove our wonderful priest, right after the opening song. Many parishioners are deeply concerned about the injustice done to our priest and would like some suggestions as to what we can do to insure that justice prevails. At the present time he is under a gag order and cannot communicate with anyone from the parish. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.
