I sat down to watch THE VOICE and I came to think about what attracts so many people to this voice audition show and this is what I concluded. These are lessons I believe we can use a Catholics to bring back our youth and teens.
  1. The singers want to be affirmed and validated by someone who will care for them in their journeys
2/ The show offers them hope and blessings
  2. The show offers them excitement and joy
Why can’t we as Catholics be doing the same? These virtues should be being taught and fulfilled by us Catholics and not by Hollywood. Why, other then JP11, aren’t we attracting the next generation of Catholics? Is this hopeless or can (our faith) be made attractive to our youth again.

Well, any Youth Minister will tell you that. Kids want 2 things:
1)the TRUTH, no sugar-coating it
2)and to know that you care about them.

And what I have learned from the voice, is that people in the United Stated equate singing LOUD with winging well. It’s the old Star Search syndrome. Those programs have done more to unravel private voice lessons than any thing else.

We can learn how not to sing and how not to start a career in music.

What can we learn from watching ‘THE VOICE’ ?

That television programming needs to seriously improve…

Clare is right. Loud has become equated with good.

That is just soooo very wrong.

God Bless Karen Carpenter.
