Why are there specific doctrines and teachings not found in the Bible?

Hi,

All Catholic dogma has its roots in Scripture. But a lot of Catholic fine tuning will not be specifically spelled out there. It is crucial to recognize that the Catholic Church preceded the New Testament and not the other way around as is the case with Protestantism.

Again, holding to Scripture alone is not found in the Bible. The word 'Bible" is not present in Scripture. Nor is the term “Trinity.”

Sacred Tradition rests on the teaching authority of the Church as founded by Jesus–as does the New Testament.
