What caused the Schism between the Eastern Orthodox church and the Roman Catholic Church?

Hi, Guest!

There were several reasons; one was that the Catholic Church held that the Holy Spirit Proceeds from the Father and the Son while the Easter Church held that it was only from the Father… then, as with many other separations, there’s that pesky thing called “Authority.” Everyone wants it; but not everyone is willing to accept other bodies’ authority.
succession of ecclesiastical differences and theological disputes between the Greek East and Latin West pre-dated the formal rupture that occurred in 1054.[2][3][4] Prominent among these were the issues of the source of the Holy Spirit, whether leavened or unleavened bread should be used in the Eucharist,[a] the Bishop of Rome’s claim to universal jurisdiction, and the place of the See of Constantinople in relation to the Pentarchy.[8] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East–West_Schism)
