What causes rationality in humans

I found this interesting quote. “Bees make honey and humans make technology.”
Also, we have a drive to explore out of curiosity. Ultimately, this can lead to interstellar travel. We, also, form civilization based on nations as opposed to tribes.
Personally, from what I have read about neanderthals I think we developed writing, mathematics, and architecture. We tend to be more centered in the intellect rather than the dream continuum.
I, also, think we tend to ask the question and probe deeper, “where did we come from?”
 
This is like reading tea leaves. Yes, there are artefacts. Yes, they can be studied. The conclusions are … well, inconclusive.
 
It is like reading tea leaves. We are talking about consciousness. I don’t think we have enough data to make a final judgement about that. No one knows what consciousness is. The definitions are diverse and it seems to be defined by various groups. Some definitions are atheistic and some are based in religion. Some are scientific and some are based in mystical revelation or a subjective viewpoint. I favor religious data and scientific data to support the religious.
