Some people say he has dark brown hair. Others said he has golden hair. So who is correct?

No, neither of them is “saying” that Jesus has this or that color hair. Both artists were fully aware, when they were at work on those paintings, that it was not their purpose to produce a physiologically accurate portrait of the historical Jesus.

We’re not going to know how Jesus looked when he actually walked the earth, until perhaps we get to Heaven, then maybe it will be revealed to us.

Artists have made Jesus look all different ways, including all different races, not just white, and with hair every color there is. Same for the Blessed Mother. The artists are making art, using their imagination, not trying to say “this is how Jesus actually looked”. Usually artists will portray Jesus as looking similar to the people for whom the art is intended to be viewed.

Even the portraits of Jesus painted at the direction of those who have had private revelations/ visions of him (for example, the Divine Mercy image) are not necessarily how Jesus looked when he was on earth, because Jesus is capable of looking any way he wishes when he appears to a person.

I don’t know, I also don’t care. I do know that he died for my sins.

I personally believe the shroud of Turin is real, and was also the basis for the Pantokrator icon we all know and love. And if we regard tradition here, we should probably believe the church fathers chose this image and colors for a good reason… and then repeatedly did it. Secondly, just applying Occam’s razor to the Middle East (and 1st century/non diaspora Jews) would suggest darker hair and at best reddish.

But at the same time, Jesus is glorified and ascended and has hair “white as wool” as describe in the book of Revelation. 🙂

Given the part of the world He lived in, I’d make an educated guess He had black hair and olive skin.

Also, you misspelled the word “colored.” It doesn’t have a “u”.😜

I wonder has there ever been a depiction of Jesus as being bald? If not then we need such a depiction for those of us without hair.

I know I might sound crazy but the reason I ask this question is that one day during my prayer I saw Mary in a vision. I looked up slowly starting from her feet and expected to see herself only but was surprised that she was holding somebody else. In her arms she was carrying the most beautiful baby and his hair is golden. Ok, you can start to redicule me now coz it probably is just my overactive imagination.

While it looks like some of the more modern artists have gotten on this bald-headed Jesus concept (based on a Google Image search), Bunny Wailer seems to have noticed this lack in art too. (Just posting the song for fun, I do not agree that Jesus was necessarily a dreadlocked Ethiopian rastaman)

I know. It was a joke, a funny that is. A gentle ribbing I toss to all our friends from across the pond. 😁😉
