I read in the bible (KJV) a few months ago (I can’t rember where, sorry) that Jesus Said “Don’t ye know that you are Gods?” or something to that extent. It has been in the back of my mind for a few months now and it really is bothersome. Could somebody explain what Jesus meant to me?

Hi Monte, I think you are referring to John 10:34 which is quote from Psalm 82:6. In context, Jesus just said that he and the Father are one in nature. The Jewish people accussed Jesus of blassemphy and picked up stones to kill him. In Jewish argumentation Jesus was making an arguement from the lesser to the greater.

His argument is, If those whom recieved the word of God can be considered godlike in authority (lesser) then the Son of God (greater) can be equal to God in nature.

aside: II Peter 1:4 says that christians partake of the divine nature which is the doctrine of Theosis. Mankind was created in the image of God. Sin has tarnished that image somewhat and Theosis is the process that God is using to restore us into the image of Christ.

You must remember that scripture was written in a culture that is different from your own in a time history wise that is about 2,000 years ago.

🙂
