Hymns, songs, and/or chant depending upon the individual parish’s song books, musical talents, and preferences.

This would vary widely by indivdual based on his tastes and interests.

My personal library is quite large and ever expanding. I have books of church documents (such as the Catechism, documents of Vatican II, various Encyclicals, etc). I have books by Catholic authors. I have books by some non-Catholic authors. I have numerous books on pro-life topics.

I have several bibles and a boat load of bible study commentaries

I have some CD/audio tapes, and some DVDs.

In fact, my husband thinks I need an intervention.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have a baby collection of the above with other differences, and my husband tells me the very same thing all the time!!!

Lately, he has started most sentences with “I know this is not a matter of interest to you since it has NOTHING to do with religion, but…”

:o

He does admit I speak more often about our child.😃

But to me, that is talking religion.👍

Thanks Randy.

I might have better stated the question to begin this thread…

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG/HYMN?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
Song/hymn - Gregorian Chant

Book - The Complete Works of St. John of the Cross (religious)
Kristin Lavransdatter (secular, with deep religious insights)

Hmm…I love Amazing Grace, most Christmas music like Silent Night, and I wish they did “On Eagle’s Wings” more often, you know, “bear you upon the break of dawn, and hold you in the palm of His hands…” I also GREATLY appreciate the church (in the U.S.) that sings patriotic/religious songs on U.S. holidays, esp. the 4th of July. America the Beautiful, America (My Country Tis of Thee), and songs like that. I love most of those kinds. There are other songs I like, but I can’t remember the titles right now… I also sing songs from Sound of Music, and stuff like that. Basically, I sing songs that I have memorized, which isn’t all that much because I’m hard of hearing.

As for books, I’m not quite that read in religious books yet, though I’ve read many other books (I have little over 700 books of my own right now). But I love HP, LOTR, Artemis Fowl, Ender’s Shadows series, Gordon Korman, War of the Worlds, Mark Twain’s books like A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, Jules Verne, Ray Bradbury, pretty much anything sci fi, fantasy, or non-fiction historical about WWII. I can go on 😃 If you want me to, I will. 🙂

Plenty of Catholics read books many others read. I do steer clear of most romances, because I really don’t want to read what I don’t watch, like explicit scenes, if you know what I mean? I don’t think that’s really all that conducive to my everyday struggle against sin. (I’ll debate the merits of HP with anybody who wants to) I don’t really read those “dime” novels, you know the kinds that every book has a really similar plot? Waste of my time. 🙂

I hope that answers your question?
