What do Hindus think of the claim that Buddha out-smarted and reigned superior over Brahman?

In the Buddhist scriptures, there is a story of a time when Buddha went to the Heavens and conversed with Brahman. Long story short, Brahman claimed to be all-knowing, all-powerful, all-present, etc. and Buddha exposed him and had even Brahman admitting he didn’t know everything, and to aid certain questions to Buddha instead of him.

I was wondering what Hindus thought of this.

I think you mean Brahma, not Brahman. Brahman is not a person, brahman can not be conversed with or understood by anyone.

Brahma in the Hindu pantheon is the Creator God, he is the one who creates the world - he is a God in Buddhism also. He is not worshipped much by anyone in Hinduism, so Hindus will probably not mind much what this story says.

In fact there is a similar story about Krishna , arguing with Brahma and putting him in his place - this story actually refers to multiverses - Krishna tells Brahma that he is not unique - that there are many universes with each having its own Brahma, read here: Krishna story: Brahma visit to Lord Krishna in Dvaraka!!! | Bhagavatam-katha

Here is an explanation of Hindu Gods if you are interested: http://www.thehindugods.com/ (and the difference between Brahma and brahman)
