I am attending a non-Catholic funeral on Saturday and I just wanted to know what not to do. It’s at Evangel Temple. I know not to take the Eucharist there if they offer it, because it is not the same as the Catholic Eucharist, and it’s a grave sin, but what else is considered sinful? I am not happy about it being done in a non-Catholic Church and I would prefer not to go, but it’s my aunt-in-law’s mother who it’s being celebrated for. I would appreciate whatever information you can give me. God bless you!

As a rule of thumb, try to think of yourself as a non-participating witness. Stand when the congregation stands, but otherwise sit quietly and watch. If you like, you may also silently pray Catholic prayers such as the rosary or the Divine Mercy chaplet. You may also wish to arrange for Masses to be said for the deceased at your parish or by a religious order.
