I was married in the church, got a divorce and annulment. Got married to a second man in the church after annulment. Only lasted 18 months and then I left him because he didn’t care for my children and let them know it. I always loved my first husband. Got back together with my first husband and father of our 3 children and 6 grandchildren. We married by a justice of the peace and then our parish priest blessed our marriage in our church. Does this make it legal in the Catholic Church. We have been back together for 22 years and go to mass and communion every week and during the week. I still have a guilt about really not getting another annulment (which I heard was hard to get). What do I do now? Thank you for any information.

Thanks Guilty in Arizona!!

Hi,

I find it interesting that despite the fact that a priest attempted to bless your marriage without a second annulment, you know that this was wrong. And you are correct! You need to try to get an annulment for the second marriage. It may not be all that difficult because you don’t sound all that emotionally stable. But you may be required to get some counseling before you are allowed to marry in the Church again. Go see a priest about getting an annulment—preferably NOT the priest who “blessed” your marriage. You are in my prayers.
