Please give step-by-step instructions.
What do I do to no longer receive private messages or notifications from a member?

Click your icon → then click your name that’s on the top left of the notifications pop-up → then click on Preferences which is listed last along the top → on the left pane you’ll see Account/Profile/Emails ← change all those to NEVER and untick the box “Mailing List Mode”. Then make sure you click SAVE CHANGES.
Under this you’ll see Notifications ← you can set each of those on the right under each option to whatever you want. You can also disable live notifications but that will disable ALL notifications.
At the bottom is MESSAGES ← make sure it is unchecked if you no longer want to receive PMs (from anyone).
Click SAVE CHANGES.
On the left under Notifications you’ll see Users.
Click the +Add button under Ignore and type in the users name @whoever
Under Muted click in the blank box and start typing in the username you wish to add.
Also under here is a box which gives you the option to allow only specific users to PM you. Check/click this and add whomever you want.
Click SAVE CHANGES.

In addition to that, if a specific member is bothering or harassing you via private messages, then if their message violates TOS (like it’s a threat or they’re being really nasty) you can just flag it inappropriate like you would a post. If they aren’t clearly violating TOS then you can ask them to please stop messaging you, and if they persist, you can flag their messages and write a note to the moderator that the person is continuing to send you unwanted messages after you asked them to stop. The mods are generally good about taking care of these situations.

Use delete button and don’t read them…I have in the past been sucked into long tit for tat discussions, but it gets easier after a couple of rounds to dismiss the unread comments from further notifications, and simply not open direct replies and just delete them.
