What do I need to know for Confession after many years?

I am somewhat embarassed to post this question, but please bear with me.
I will be going to confession for the first time since, honestly, I can’t remember.
To the best of my knowledge, it may have even been since my first communion.
I have scheduled my confession for tomorrow. Honestly I am not sure what to even say, except for “Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.” What else do I need to know before going in? Also, I am very concerned that I probably will not remember every sin I have ever committed. What would happen if I forgot about a mortal sin I committed, say…10 years ago for example? I will be completely honest about what I do remember, but how can I make sure I do not leave any out? If you ask forgiveness for lying, does that count for every time you have lied or only the times you can give specific examples for?
I appreciate your time in dealing with such an ignorant Catholic.

Hi,

Don’t worry; the priest will help you. When He gives you absolution all your sins will be forgiven, including the ones you forgot to mention. Should you later remember one, mention it the next time you go to Confession as an act of sorrow and repentance. But it is already forgiven. Mentioning that you lied is enough. You don’t have to give details.
