Well, okay, maybe there are. It’s just a little stunning to see a post that says so.Wait, there are things that Protestants do well? :frighten:

That might depend on the parish. But I sometimes miss those Wednesday night Bible studies we used to have in the Baptist church.Study the Bible. Seriously, in all my years of PSR we cracked open the Bible once! I would also counter those who say we should change our hymns. They’re fine!
Our parish has really picked up over the years on good Bible studies, as well as adult education on Catholic topics. We used to attend regularly, but not the last few years. Age has made the trip into town - especially at night - more difficult. When the inevitable comes & I have to move nearer to town (or in town - horrors!) I’ll be able to attend more often. But I sometimes miss those Wednesday night Bible studies we used to have in the Baptist church.
Suffice it to say that I’ve spent a *lot *of time on the Non-Catholic-Religions-Forum and other discussion fora. Why?
This.I attended a non-denomination church a few times when I was a teenager. It meant nothing to me at the time but this denomination had singles events! I wish my parish or any neighboring parish has something even close to a singles event specifically for single people to meet. What do we have at my parish? “Married’s and Singles for Christ”… Great, another place I can look at all the nice families while I am all by myself.
Except for in many places, people go to be seen. In the Catholic church everyone is welcome, no matter their class or station in life. I would hate to see the pressure be on appearances.
:twocents:
Yes, that’s the most important thing, but it’s still nice to show reverence with dress as in other ways.God doesn’t care how we are dressed. We are there celebrating Mass that is the most important thing.
I attended a Catholic Bible study regularly for a while last year. It was great. I have been to countless protestant Bible studies before I converted and the difference between the Catholic Bible study and the protestant ones were I got a lot more information about history and the actual context in which the passages we were studying were written along with what the author was trying to tell us about God. Much better than the "What does this verse tell you… ? what do you think it means…? " type of Bible studies I went to as a protestant. That might depend on the parish.
