What do we think about reincarnation?

Since we know reincarnation is false the use of hypnosis to “remember” their “previous life” is an abuse.



One of the most egregious uses of hypnotherapy these days involves a practice known as past life regression therapy (PLRT) which uses hypnosis to allegedy help patients remember past lives. PLRT is one of several uses for the controversial recovered memory therapy, or RMT, which is also used to uncover suppressed memories of incest, satanic ritual abuse, space-alien abduction and regression into infancy…

The main problem with RMT, whether it be of a past life or alien abduction, is that it is relatively easy for a therapist to implant a false memory.

For this reason, many courts of law also refuse to accept testimony from people who have been hypnotized for purposes of “recovering” memories, “because such techniques can lead to confusion between imaginations and memories.”
To place yourself in a vulnerable state with a hypnotist who believes in reincarnation (which is opposed to Christianity) is opening the door to evil, and evil spirits.

I worked for a husband and wife for five years at their pizza shop. The husband’s family were all immigrants from Britain. One of his nephews born here in the US , probably only 5yrs old, began detailing stories about people he never met and eras he obviously couldn’t read about yet. Now it’s important to note that the entire family is completely secular and not at all religious. So before long I heard how this kid was talking about the 1930’s and previous experiences with deceased family members. Everyone started saying he’s reincarnated! I’m not sure what happened but I believe something demonic was going on in that family. The kid just was seeing and hearing things he couldn’t know at his age.

What do you think about the nephews? Could he be affected by movies, comics? Or he is imaginative?
 
I was a little disturbed when I heard it. Online this is a very very common occurrence to read about. It always happens before the age of reason and memories fade rapidly. I’m not saying that the kid was possessed but young children appear to be very sensitive to spiritual forces.

As a Catholic, I don’t believe in reincarnation. Nor do I believe in it personally.
 
There is no such thing as reincarnation. Anything that tries to lead you to believe in it is from Satan. Don’t fall for his traps!
 
St Paul spoke clearly about this false teaching in Hebrews 9:27.

Could you all give me some arguments, real case or scientific evidence to reject reincarnation please? Now I know reincarnation isn’t biblical.
 
An interesting concept, (and a much-loved plot device in Japanese web novels) but one without any actual evidence to back it up. The big problem is that it’s unfalsifiable. There’s no way to prove a person has actually reincarnated or if they simply have a good imagination. Experimenting on it is virtually impossible, since you never know where the soul will reincarnate next. We can’t put a tag on a soul and track its movements like a wild deer

While we hope to only die once, sadly, many will succumb to a second death; the death of the soul.

This refers to the Lake of Fire. The ‘second death’ is damnation, being sent to Hell. Not a second death in the sense of having lived a second life.
 
Well, yes, of course. I qualified I was speaking theologically, where life is eternal and spiritual, and not temporal and biologic. Its an important distinction to raise. Failure to consider this theological difference might be to what has led to the common belief, even among Catholics (albeit those who are not properly catechized) that Hell does not exist.
 
Life is crappy enough as it is, why go through it again and again and again and again.
 
Why return to this rock when you know the joys of life with the Lord in heaven? It’s just not something to take seriously in Catholicism…
 
Christ has a prime example of non-re-incarnation,
He might have come multiple times to take away sins,
Heb. 9:26, but only once, b/c it is appointed for man
ONCE to die v.27 and He will appear a Second time,
not to live another life but to bring Salvation to those
who believe in Him v.28.
 
As far as I know, reincarnation is not compatible with the Catholic faith, because the Catholic faith teaches that every person lives for one life and then goes to heaven or hell, or goes to purgatory at first and goes to heaven after staying in purgatory for some time. So, there is no room for reincarnation.

In terms of reports, I have also heard some reports claiming that some people tell things that are beyond their lives and are therefore considered as evidence of reincarnation. I don’t have deep research on such reports, so I don’t know whether they are true or not. But I think that, even if they are true, that doesn’t necessarily mean that there is reincarnation, because perhaps it is demons that work in those people (perhaps without making them notice), helping them tell things beyond their lives, to try to make people believe reincarnation.
