What do you do if someone brings you Communion but doesn't give it to you?

Being recently laid up from surgery, I asked a friend to bring me the Eucharist after Mass. She returned with the pyx but did not have time to give me Communion. Three days later, the host is still in the pyx and I’m left with the question, may I give myself Communion?

Your friend brought you Communion but “did not have time” to give you Communion? How long does it take to hold up a host and say “The body of Christ”? It is inexcusable that your friend would “drop off” Communion without making certain that you consumed it before she left. If you are in a state of grace, go ahead and consume the host. (Under ordinary circumstances though, no one but a priest should self-communicate. When Communion is brought to the homebound, it is given to them.) Then contact the parish where your friend received the consecrated host to give you – she is a duly-delegated extraordinary minister of holy Communion (EMHC), right? – and report what happened to the pastor.
