I’m just sitting here wondering, since I wake at 3-4AM every morning to exercise and work, what others do on Sunday before and after mass when they cannot work. Work on Sunday for me is not essential, though it sure does help keep me ahead in teaching, but I try to avoid it.

Basically, every Sunday, I basically end up on CAF before mass for hours just reading threads. I do pray, at first, but that doesn’t take up the 5 hours before I leave for mass. I have lost interest in watching TV or movies, so that’s out. Reading for me is hit an miss. After mass, I basically lay around like a log taking naps. I do try to read the Bible as much as possible, but I don’t take my ADHD meds (need a break from them) on Sunday and have difficulty attending. I’m not an outdoors person and don’t play games anymore. It’s almost boring.

So, I was just curious what others do…

I usually attend 2 Masses due to certain commitments. Then catch up with family or study.

Usually go visiting on Sundays . Before Mass at the moment do a massive keep calm thing as I am claustrophobic and having anxiety issues being in a crowded venue.

I always wake up early enough to have some coffee before mass. I go to the church early to greet people, coordinate people for the collection and bringing up the gifts.
After mass we’ll sometimes participate in a rosary group in the chapel. This time of year, we often watch football for part of the day.

I am starting to swim early every morning - even Sundays. So after I swim I get
ready for Mass. After Mass, I go to coffee and donuts and visit.
Then, on the way home I stop and pick up something for lunch.
When I get home, I check my emails and CAF while I eat my lunch.
Then, I enjoy a glorious afternoon nap and relax the rest of the day.

My wife has Alzheimer’s, so what I do is attuned to her needs. I get up and get dressed, and begin her breakfast (usually a Crossanwich and nutrition drink from the pharmacy.) I set out her pills, then I feed the animals (three donkeys, a horse, a pit bull and two cats) and come back to help her finish dressing – finding things like lost hearing aids and so on.

After she finishes breakfast, we drive into town for mass. We get there about a half an hour early and participate in the Rosary.

After Mass, the congregation gets together in the hall for coffee, cookies and conversation and then we go to a café for brunch. We finally get home around 2 PM.
