During my uncle’s funeral, a very old lady, after receiving Communion, passed by my aunt, and bent over to shake her hand. I was sitting next to my aunt and saw that the host fell out of the lady’s mouth onto the floor without her realizing it (or anyone else). I immediately reached over the pew and picked up the host and consumed it. Was this a correct action or should I have done something different?

For the future, it would be preferable to discreetly alert an extraordinary minister of holy Communion (EMHC) to the accident so that he or she may handle the situation. If there is a possibility that someone might step on the host before it could be picked up, you might pick it up and give it to an usher or EMHC for disposal after everyone has received Communion.
