What do you do when your parish doesn't have a Fa.Corapi?

I love watching Fr. Corapi. He really does tell it like it is. Does anyone else here think that he looks and sounds like Sean Connery? I think he does.

Someone posted, why don’t I try to get the ball rolling? Wishful thinking.I asked if they have adult programs and such. I was told some people tried, but no one would come out. People just wanted to attend mass and that was enough for them.

What about the priest?? A “Corapi” homily would provide some adult instruction…

If the people in the parish don’t want to come out for anything, start something for people outside of the parish. Alpha courses are being used by many Catholic parishes to attract the unchurched. Evangelism is the key to growth anyway. The Cavins Bible study looks like an excellent resource from what I have read of it.

As an Anglican and a former Baptist, I must say that not all Protestants look upon attending church as time for socializing. Many actually do go to worship. I have to tell you that in some of the Catholic parishes I have attended, there was plenty of socializing going on in the sanctuary right up until the Mass started. One fellow in one parish was even walking around drinking a diet Coke as he went from pew to pew chatting with folks. So much for reverence.

As a frequent watcher and supporter of EWTN, I must say though that I can imagine the frustration many Catholics experience between what they see on TV and what they experience in their parish. When I watch EWTN I am ready to swim the Tiber. Then I visit a Catholic parish and see a totally different view of Catholic life and teaching and I take my toe back out of the water.

I am sorry for your experiences with these parishes. I do notice in a few parishes certain individuals who are not very reverent. But, even in those parishes where you see this, I’ll bet if you look around you will see more than a few who are very reverent.

I go to daily mass at the Cathedral in my town, I get there a half hour earily and stay about 15 minutes after. Almost all the people there stay at least that long or longer. They are very reverent and steeped in prayer.

If we let the actions of certain individuals convict our conscience, then how many of us would have followed Jesus after we saw Judas do his thing?
