What do you do when you just get burnt out? When at every turn someone is attacking your faith? When people constantly proclaim “they know the truth” even when their truth is counter to the bible…

When you want so much to respond to every single forum question because you have an answer… but your too exhausted…

When you keep telling the same person over and over again the answer, but they twist your words to say what THEY want it to say

When people refuse to hear reason…

It’s like the mail… it just keeps coming

Though I pray fro strength, i feel like I am failing god because I just need to step back for a bit…

I love doing this, and I want to answer the questions, and I don’t feel discouraged, nor do I doubt any of the churches teaching… just tired.

Anyway… so… what do you guys do…

last night I spent an hour at perpetual adoration. Just an hour, all alone just me and Jesus. Want a pick me up? Spend some time alone with the Lord.

I feel for ya. The same thing happens to me on other forums, and in everyday life. The best way to rejuvenate is to go to daily mass. I get so much strength from it. Make sure you are feeding yourself spiritually. You cannot give what you don’t have.

The other thing is that when you feel burned out, just step back for a day or a week, or however long you feel you need to rejuvenate yourself. Try not to let yourself be stretched too thin. You don’t have to refute every heresy in the world, nor do you have to constantly seek out heresy to refute. You don’t have to battle back and forth with a person who won’t listen or show you respect. Speak the truth and let it work.

Pray! Let God work through you. Hang in there, you are helping bring about great good!

All of the advise above is good. Just remember, you may not ever see any results from your works. Perhaps though, you will have planted a seed in someone. A seed that may begin to grow someday, apart from your knowledge. Remember that praying for them is something you can do as often as you wish.

From my own experiences … sometimes if we come on too strong, or are too persistant and aggressive, others will build a wall around themselves. Realize that changing someones faith that they have been raised in, is very difficult and takes a lot of time. When it comes down to it, it is a decision that they will have to make.

It’s not your job to produce change in a person’s heart; that’s for the Holy Spirit to do. We just have to speak the truth in love.

Tired? Do like Jesus: go off to a quiet place and rest a while.🙂
Hope that helps. Stay strong.

Been there done that. Actually the crash last summer was probably the best thing that happened to me. It forced me to take a break.

Walk away for a couple of weeks and do other things and then come back.

Dont worry we will all still be here talking in circles:p 😃

I find that sometimes I get too involved in the “little” details and neglect the larger things. Sometimes it is good to just take a break, spend some time with the Blessed Sacrament. Sometimes I just go to my 1am Adoration time with nothing. Nothing to read, no agenda…nothing. I pray for all those on my prayer list and then I just ask God to let me rest in Him. I tell Him that I am just going to still my mind and rest, and if He wants to speak to me or put something on my heart…well, I’m listening. Those times are always the best.

I appreciate your responses on this site, but take a little time for yourself to restore the spiritual balance in your life. Go with God.

Kneel before and look at the crucifix, and think of what Jesus went through before he was condemned to death for preaching the truth. Thank God you are not being scourged. Assuming you live in a free country, thank God that you can share your beliefs without literally losing your head over it.

After you do that, realize that you need to rest at some point. Take a vacation, if it is an option, and recharge.

I recently joined and have been reading many answers, so I am thankful for people like you. Hopefully it will help for you and all regular responders to know that you are reaching people through the strength of God. It is Satan making you more aware of the people you aren’t reaching.

I only discovered forums last Fall, but I have already learned the dangers. Heart and mind can get more absorbed in them than in the Lord.

Mother Theresa established the rule of 3 hours of daily prayer for those in her order. I think it was to insure that Our Lord remained God in their lives - and not let works of charity (even tho very good activity) displace Him. A good rule.
