Just a quick sound off, what features other than the translation do you look (and use most) in a bible?

What do I look for in a Bible?

Durability: Must be hardback/soft leather/hard-leather bound…NO paperback Bibles!

Readibility: Must be easily read-able–what I mean is the type should not run right up into the spine of the book. (Made that mistake once already)

Aesthetics: Must be handsome in it’s simplicity. Preferably black. I love the gold stuff, though the cheap gold stuff flakes off and I have yet to figure out how to tell the difference. I’d like it just to say “Holy Bible” on the front, possibly with a Cross/Crucifix emblazened under it.

Other Features: I like the ones that come with lots of refrences, maps, pictures of Popes, a succession of Popes etc.

I look for the “impura” marking to ensure it is in line with the Catholic Church.

The truth!👍
Without the authority and approval of the Catholic Church, the truth in Scripture may get fuzzy and lost. Protestants lost 7-11+ books allready.

Look for Catholic Church seals of approval first in any Bible!

I own numerous Protestant versions of the Bible with various numbers of books and verses in them. I own the LDS King James Version, the NWT, NIV, AKJV, KJV, CFC, etc. I use them to talk with Protestants but they also provide another point of view - though not allways right.

The best Bible is the one you use no matter what.

PS, I’d love to have a JW/Wacthtower version of the Bible but I just don’t want to go to a kingdom hall to get one and non of the JW’s that come to my door have parted with one.😦

i’d like to get a bible that has all the books the catholic bible has. I don’t know where to go around here, because all the christian book stores are protestant. maybe barnes and noble? well i like mine leatherbound, because is looks sharper and in my experience they’re more durable. i also like the little articles in my word in life bible.

Check a used bookstore. Lot’s of people ditch 'em there.

NIHIL OBSTAT: I have concluded that the materials
presented in this work are free of doctrinal or moral errors.

IMPRIMATUR: In accord with…permission to publish this work is hereby granted.

These two stamps of approval are the most important thing in any Bible!
