Every woman on my mom’s side of the family has some kind of weird ability that might be considered psychic (or something, idk). All of us are practicing Catholics and none of us have ever tried to do these things or have been able to stop them. They are normally pretty mundane and totally pointless. I’ll explain…

My GM would having a random recurring dream about people having a party. When she woke she knew someone close to her had just died or would die that day. Every time without fail, someone died. Sometimes it was a more expected death (illness) and sometimes it was out of the blue (accident). If she met someone who had her birthday, she knew instantly, stranger or not. The deaths couldn’t be avoided and who cares if you have the same birthday, but it’s not normal or natural.

I’ve predicted random accidents (mostly for acquaintances), which always happen within a day of me warning them. We all see dead people easily and regularly, but they do not normally try to interact with us. I saw angels as a small child. The weirdness is along those lines. Nothing really astounding or useful to anyone. None of us have ever tried to chase these abilities and none of us can stop it. It’s not disturbing and it’s annoying at the most, but generally pretty benign. And I know I’m not full of crud because I see it and it’s happened too often for it to be coincidence.

Now the Church teaches that this kind of stuff is evil, but we’re all Catholic and in no way chasing witchcraft. Just seems to be a weird little thing. What do you make of it? Just curious. I’m not really concerned.

If the Lord has given you these abilities and your faithful to the Lord as practising Catholics, I would imagine its what you do with this information that counts. Have you ever mentioned this to a priest in Confession, maybe the Lord has just given you these gifts, or are they, when I watch the programme “Medium” on television its something like you describe, I would not like to have those gifts myself. Mention it to the priest next time in Confession or when talking to Fr.

God Bless walk with the Lord.

I sometimes know things before they happen. It’s not something I try to do, it just comes to me. My mom was the same way. I used to talk to my husband and sister about it. But it weirded them out. So I stopped talking about it. I mentioned it to my pastor a couple times and gave him some examples of what kinds of things I knew. He said I’m very intuitive and not to let it bother me. Most of the time, I wish I didn’t know when something was about to happen. But I do, so I just try to pray about it. God gave it to me for a reason and it has been helpful at times.

Thanks to you both for your feedback. I have never spoken with a priest about this. Normally I don’t really speak to anyone outside the family about it. It does sound a little weird after all.

It’s never really bothered me or creeped me out too much. For my grandmother, for example, perhaps it was gift for her to know ahead of time that someone was going to be passing or a way too reach out to certain people about something funny like a shared birthday. I really don’t know. Of course, if I see that someone is going to have an accident, I tell them. They don’t always listen and it happens anyway, but I do try to tell them in as easy a way to digest as possible. So I do see an obvious potential good there. Seeing a ghost…honestly, I have no idea why or what the point is. But they’re not creepy or scary…they’re just people.

I feel like if it doesn’t get creepy or change dramatically, I won’t be too concerned. I do pay attention and I don’t chase it. It happens and I do pray that God surrounds me with His goodness and sends evil away. We are all pretty devout Catholics and we just figure that for whatever reason this just happens and we make it as light and positive as possible.

I think I will discuss it with a priest. It’s good to get your feedback…thanks again!

Speak to a priest and follow his guidance on whether these are gifts from god or from the evil one…and also the priest will guide you on whether to use your gifts and how they should be used…

When the saints saw deceased or,angels etc…their gifts were to benefit the church…not to make a few predictions to their friends

Thanks for the suggestion. As I said, I will talk to my priest. Regarding your last comment, I don’t get what you’re saying. So if I see a coworker’s child getting in a car crash I should ring up my parish and not tell the coworker?

I only saw angels once when I was very young…they told me to run away. They were just getting me out of a dangerous situation. I think that was pretty straight forward. However, they were amazing and it’s a special memory.
