Quick Notice

I am aware of language and voilnce in films. I just want to warn if you watch a movie and it makes you want to sin try not to watch it I think a priest said that.

I know all movies are fiction even some based on real stories but no one was murdered on set ECT.
I dontglorify voilince or sin.
So since I got that in the clear

If you ever seen

What do you think about matrix final destination Terminator John Wick?

Seeing violence doesn’t make me want to commit violence. Although I think it does make us more prone to acting impulsively when angry.
But I find violent movies kind of boring. I fast forward through car chases and fist fights.
I’ve seen Matrix and Terminator, and enjoyed them for the science fiction plots and special effects. I haven’t seen Final Destination because I think it’s horror, and I understand John Wick is very violent, but I could be wrong.

There are lots of sci-fi movies that are interesting without being super violent, like Armageddon, Planet of the Apes (except for the battles, of course), Passengers, Inception. I liked Ready Player One – I guess I just ignore a lot of the violence in many films.

Yes, movies like that make you think, without going overboard on fighting, shooting, and so on. Although Inception does have fights in it, they are necessary for the plot.

I had to Google to find out who John Wick was.

The idea of Keanu Reeves, who I remember as always portraying stoners and boho romantic leads, now playing a hitman was so hilarious to me, I stopped right there.

The entire Matrix concept/ franchise never interested me in the slightest. I liked the original “Terminator” movies with Ahnold Schwarzenegger because he was a good actor in that role and because it was new at the time. Couldn’t care less about whatever remake, reboot, or recycling of it is going on now. Would be nice if Hollywood had an original thought once in a while.

The Matrix is awesome! It goes way beyond the fight scenes. So much philosophy and a variance on the Gospels in one package.

If you enjoy it, that’s fine. I generally don’t like sci-fi (might make an exception for old ones made before 1990), or philosophy either for that matter.

If I want to watch a movie about the Gospels, I watch a Biblical film.

I understand I was just popping in as that fan who defends everything they like. Basic nerd code. 😋

It’s a shame you don’t care for philosophy though. There is so much room for limitless thought behind that particular door. The drawback being of course that much thought can be inaccurate.

I’m a bear of little brain and if there’s anything really important in philosophy, somebody has surely prepared a powerpoint with the conclusions that I can read in 5 minutes and get on to something else.

When I was a teenager, the youth pastor at my church showed scenes from The Matrix to piece together its “Gospel message”. However, after having watched the film myself, I can’t really see it as an obviously Christian film. It’s got some very obvious religious overtones, some from Judaism and Christianity, but the general presentation is one where all religions are equally helpful, but the real power lies within yourself. Even the naming of the main characters sort of conveys this with Morpheus (Greek god), Trinity (Christian God), and Neo (the new god). (Note: I’m basing all this off the first film alone.)

In the end, I just find The Matrix a bit of a weird selection for trying to teach Christianity. It’s still impressive, though, in how it managed to be so packed with philosophy without compromising the story. Christian filmmakers could learn a lot from it on how to not make your philosophically/religiously-heavy film suck.

It also focused on Nihilism. The individual against the State. And having superpowers without a costume. I don’t see Christianity in the Matrix at all. God is a super-intelligence but not a god.

As a movie, it was made to elicit certain emotional responses, and did it well, for the most part.

I’ve watched video of Keanu training. He’s driven. Impressive. His trainer is Israeli Special Forces. Bad to the bone.

How 'bout them LA Lambs, btw? 🤣

I love those movies and can’t wait for the third. Keanu is so ncredible.

If you like action movies, the John Wick movies are some of the best ones in the last decade. Can’t wait for chapter 3 in a few months.

Check out his three weapon training drill on YouTube. Keanu is very serious about his work.

Actually, I find The Matrix a bit unintentionally disturbing now. Things like the Red Pill movement and proliferation of conspiracy theories online has made stuff that was fun in the 90s seem a bit too real and connected to disturbing trends today.

Final Destination made me paranoid for a long time and I would recommend not getting into it unless you want to risk losing some peace. Really the whole point is watching people die since the plot is just reused over and over in the different movies with new characters in a new location.
