What do you think must occur to realistically overturn Roe v Wade?

Catholics have embraced ABC just like everyone else. They don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, and they base that on their life experience and conscience rather than theory. Where’s the budget going to come from? Start preaching against ABC and I predict a dwindling Sunday collecetion.
You are exactly correct.

Our Diocese had “birth control Sunday.” Every priest was carefully commanded by the bishop, in writing, to preach against use of ABC.

One-third of the priests carefully disobeyed.

In the case of the other 2/3, hundreds got up during the homily and walked-out.

Thousands sent black-hearted condemnations of the priests into the Diocesan office.

“Birth control Sunday” was abolished after that.

Priests now regularly give Communion to the ABC users – estimated by one carefully-done federal study to be 72.5% of the regular Mass attenders.

Birth control has won.

The Catholic Church essentially consciously surrenders to the main engine behind the pro-choice movement.

Opposing abortion with parish-level pro-life budgets is “spitting in the wind.”

So, abortion has won also.

“And the gates of hell shall not prevail against thee.”

People have become so brainwashed. But the answer isn’t to just cave in. They have to be unbrainwashed. Eucharistic adoration in the parishes is essential. The Church’s teaching is livable. NFP is daily fertility awareness, free, easy to learn, highly effective, and in accordance with Church teaching (i.e., easy on the conscience).

These facts also need to be taught about contraception. The word contraceptive means the method prevents conception. That is true of barrier methods. It is half true of the pill. It is not true at all with the IUD. The pill attempts to suppress ovulation. But it also thins the lining of the uterus. If ovuluation occurs in spite of the pill, and conception occurs, the embryo will not be able to implant in the uterus. The IUD also prevents implantation of the embryo. Any method that prevents implantation of the embryo is properly called abortifacient.

A once a year homily is not the best approach. You’re hitting people cold. Some priests may come across as heavy handed. And the subject may be too much for little kids. It should be properly taught in youth ministry, adult education, and marriage prep.
