You are exactly correct.Catholics have embraced ABC just like everyone else. They don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, and they base that on their life experience and conscience rather than theory. Where’s the budget going to come from? Start preaching against ABC and I predict a dwindling Sunday collecetion.
Our Diocese had “birth control Sunday.” Every priest was carefully commanded by the bishop, in writing, to preach against use of ABC.
One-third of the priests carefully disobeyed.
In the case of the other 2/3, hundreds got up during the homily and walked-out.
Thousands sent black-hearted condemnations of the priests into the Diocesan office.
“Birth control Sunday” was abolished after that.
Priests now regularly give Communion to the ABC users – estimated by one carefully-done federal study to be 72.5% of the regular Mass attenders.
Birth control has won.
The Catholic Church essentially consciously surrenders to the main engine behind the pro-choice movement.
Opposing abortion with parish-level pro-life budgets is “spitting in the wind.”
So, abortion has won also.
