Faith is hope realized yet not attained.

I know it could use some work but conceptually I think it’s spot on. Anyways let me know your thoughts/critique/etc

Good work on that definition of faith. Your signature contains another element or scope of faith – an assurance from God. This idea is described in the Catechism:
158 “Faith seeks understanding”: it is intrinsic to faith that a believer desires to know better the One in whom he has put his faith and to understand better what He has revealed; a more penetrating knowledge will in turn call forth a greater faith, increasingly set afire by love. The grace of faith opens “the eyes of your hearts” to a lively understanding of the contents of Revelation: that is, of the totality of God’s plan and the mysteries of faith, of their connection with each other and with Christ, the center of the revealed mystery. “The same Holy Spirit constantly perfects faith by his gifts, so that Revelation may be more and more profoundly understood.” In the words of St. Augustine, “I believe, in order to understand; and I understand, the better to believe.” From the Catechism of the Catholic Church (2nd Ed., p. 43). Washington, DC: United States Catholic Conference.
I think you and the great quote in your signature encompass the truth that the gift of Christian faith has a substance and assurance not found in the faith that my favorite team will win its next game. The actions of God and Holy Spirit in the heart of the believer are at least part of the reason for the difference.

The nonbeliever who knows a faith based only in human expectations: “I have faith that my team will win” may not understand the full scope of meaning when Christians use the same word.
