I once knew of a guy who would light frankincense in the morning, do Catholic prayers accordingly, and then pour some red wine into a chalice to symbolize the blood of Jesus that was “poured out for him.”

The prayers by themselves are sufficient.
The other stuff is unnecessary.
I myself am certainly not going to be lighting anything on fire first thing in the morning when I’m barely awake, not even frankincense.

Well, I mean, lots of things aren’t necessary. Statues and candles aren’t necessary, churches decked out with millions of dollars worth of paintings and stained glass isn’t necessary, but if it helps you connect with the Divine, why not?

You asked what I thought of it. My opinion is just that, my opinion. That and two dollars will get you a coffee.

Why are you asking all these questions, anyway?

For one I don’t think most are deck out with “millions” of dollars worth of things. I use frankincense. It makes me feel calm. I also drink wine before I pray sometimes. I don’t about the symbolism of Christ’s blood assuming he is not a priest.

Seems mildly eccentric but nothing technically wrong with it.

That seems kind of odd. I mean the pouring wine into the chalice part.
