As I’ve not yet died or had a near-death experience, I have no idea what it feels like to die. All I can say is that we should pray regularly for final perseverance, a happy death, and for eventual sanctity. If we do so, we may hope that our eventual death will be peaceful.
Before he was made a bishop, Fulton Sheen would pray three Hail Marys every day to be a bishop because he wanted to attain the fullness of his vocation to the priesthood. Perhaps we can learn from his example and pray every day for sainthood, which is the fullness of our vocation as human beings.
