What does God will?

How does God allow certain things to happen while other things are disallowed. For instance, gravity does not push you off this planet and green is not yellow, but human beings can cause great harm to themselves and others without constraint (i.e. reformation, sin, etc.)?

I hope this question makes sense and I thank you in advance.
 
Humans have been given the gift of free will, so they can choose to act as they are supposed to or not. Gravity and other universal principles do not enjoy that gift, so gravity for example cannot choose to act in a way it isn’t supposed to, as humans can.

Humans have freedom only in the moral sphere-and how that relates to their actions. The laws of physics remain intact as well as the laws that govern other aspects of our lives. For example, we don’t directly control the myriad of metabolic processes that need to take place in our bodies-and even if we could attempt to we’d be dead pretty quickly-it’s too complex a matter. We have no control over our birth and little over our death-but we can control our external behavior in the meanwhile.
 
God wills what He wills, permits what He permits. “I am who am”.

Pure existence.

Post no 6 said it very well I think.

Have this to add to the others who posted regarding free will.

It is true that with free will we can choose evil (Adam and Eve) but God allows / permits evil because He can always bring out a greater good out of it. Felix Culpa.

Without free will, we are merely robots.
