What does Isaiah 22 prove?

But then there’s that binding and loosing thing, found in Isaiah 22, the well-beloved Matthew passage, and in Revelation, as well as possibly elsewhere. If you’re going to make the connection, use the connection that is there.
Yeah, we can’t let the facts get in the way, now can we?

I was being redundant because some people don’t claim there was an office, or that the office came with succession.

Why can’t all Non-Catholics agree on what they don’t believe in the Catholic Church? Apologetics would be SO much easier.

The binding and loosing thing does have strong connotations, given that the Jewish leaders had this authority in the time of Jesus, so it sounds like simply a transfer of authority, not of succession, but from one office (Jewish) to another office (Christian).

You also can’t ignore the fact that Jesus mentioned the Chair of Moses, which would evolve into the Chair of Peter.

But, I just realized that you’re trying to zero in on just Isaiah 22, and not on a debate of the Papacy, per se. Is that right?
