What does it matter if/that the Eucharist is "truly" the body of Christ?

Does it matter? well, on a scale of 1 to 10… It’s a 10. Yes, it is a basic part of the Christian faith.

I may have posted this before but it’s worth posting again:

If through the Grace and Mercy of God I get to Heaven, first of all I want to thank Him for 1) my salvation, 2) the gift of being born, baptized and chrismated in the Catholic Faith according to the Byzantine Ukrainian Rite;3) the innumerable times He has forgiven me my sin in the Mystery of Repentance (Penance), AND 4) the countless times He has given Himself to me - Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity - in the Holy Eucharist.

Please God I will thank Him for all eternity in Heaven for everything He has given me, and also thank Our Lady, St. Joseph, St. Anthony, my Guardian Angel, St. Michael and all the Angels and Saints whose intercession I asked for during this earthly life.

Jesus, Mary, I love You; save souls!
 
Thank you for the replies, everyone. It’s given me a lot to think about. I’ll definitely look into some of the book recommendations that have been given.
 
I don’t even understand the OP, seriously is this a troll? Jesus, Himself, is present. I—I don’t even understand the question, “What does it matter…?”

I see some posts addressing whether it’s true or not, but the OP doesn’t question the truth of it, just asks, “So what though?”

I don’t understand that question. It’s not something where, “So what?” is even a sensible question, it more makes me think the questioner has missed the point or otherwise not understood.

You’re eating Jesus. Drinking, His blood. “What does it matter?” I don’t get this.
 
Perhaps the most important reason is that is the truth.
GOD came down from Heaven to become a human being a real brother to us, through HIM we can call HIS father “ABBA” and HE is our real father.
And as we are beings made of 2 natures Spirit and Flesh HE promised that HE Jesus would be with us until the end of the age (The end of time) when this Universe will be ended.
How can Jesus “remain with us”? Obviously if HE were to remain here on Earth in the real flesh as a human being that would stifle our freedom of choice. We can choose to reject HIM. And HE will not force Himself upon us. And yet how can HE stay here on Earth tangibly, concretely, we can see and touch HIM with our human senses?
Enter the “Eucharist” a true miracle repeated day in and day out throughout the planet, priests everywhere every day consecrate the wine and bread and make Jesus present in our midst.
When you understand that if GOD pronounced the words at the Last Supper the Apostles actually ate HIS Body and drank HIS blood although they did not know or understand it until the Holy Spirit illuminated their minds with this truth, the most important tenet of our faith.
“When I eat this bread and drink this cup, I profess the death of our Lord and proclaim HIS resurrection”
 
It’s more important than anything else in the world. When you go into a Catholic church, God, as in The Most High, himself is present always in the flesh. That should make you at least a little nervous or at best completely reverent. He made this entire universe what is seen and unseen (even science admits to ‘dark matter’ and that is unseen and plenty of it) yet He comes before us trusting us to look after his body blood soul and divinity so we can consume him because he knows we need him in order to live. So there in the tabernacle is God himself. That changes everything. How churches are built (beauty), how we behave (reverence) how we live our lives so we remain in a state of grace to receive such a gift (go to confession regularly and fast etc.). Jesus told us to eat his body and blood so we obey him.

The counsel of Trent 1560 makes it mandatory. To believe. Or you are an outcast.
