What must we do to “turn away from the flesh”? How must we accomplish this goal? 🙂

Good question but I thought I would throw in my two cents, it reminds me of the phrase dying to self, and getting rid of all the vices that corrupt possibly the flesh and the self!

Turning away from all that is evil, and all that does not help us in some way in our spiritual journey to grow closer to Christ.

Dear friends

Turning away from theflesh does not mean not feeding yourself and taking care of your humkan body, afterall it is a magnificent masterpiece of God!! It means rejecting all that contravenes God’s will and laws in respect of your body, your humanity and that of others.

You have no chance of accomplishing this goal of rejecting all that is evil and basing your life on desire …none whatsoever, unless first you CHOOSE to by your own free will and secondly, you then ASK God for the GRACES to sustain you and bring about your deep heartfelt in love, desire to renounce all that contravenes His will and laws.

The very minute you CHOOSE and ASK, you receive those graces and the grace of fortitude. ‘Ask and you shall receive, knock and the door shall be opened’ You will be surprised how much God will exceed even your greatest expectations!!! God’s greatness, goodness and love is without measure.

God IS good and God IS love.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

it means you are not a slave to physical appetites, that our lower natures, the things about us that are most like the animals, are not subject to our higher natures, our intellect and soul. It means our brains are in our skulls, not under our zippers. it means we have learned self-discipline and self-control, without which no one is truly free. It means we put the good of others ahead of our own good, and the good of our souls above the good of our bodies. It means our senses serve the intellect, not deceive the intellect. It means we are ruled by thought, not by impulse. It means we are free to be wholly truly what the Father created us to be, not limited by the physical needs and pleasures of the body.
